The property market in the province of Alicante continues to show strong activity. In a recent article by BusinessAM, NB-ESTATES was also mentioned in relation to the strong presence of foreign buyers on the Costa Blanca.
The province of Alicante includes both the Costa Blanca North and Costa Blanca South and remains one of the most attractive regions in Spain for international property investment.
Strong presence of foreign buyers in the province of Alicante
According to figures from the Valencian Association of Notaries, foreign buyers accounted for almost two-thirds of all villas and bungalows sold in the province of Alicante over the past five years. This strong demand reflects the growing trend of international buyers searching for larger homes on the Spanish coast.
The stronger purchasing power of foreign buyers also plays an important role. The figures show that international buyers spend significantly more on property on average than Spanish buyers. In particular, properties priced above €500,000 remain highly sought after among foreign buyers.
Dutch and Belgian buyers becoming increasingly prominent
Dutch and Belgian buyers continue to have a strong presence on the Costa Blanca property market. Dutch buyers have now even overtaken the British as the largest international buyer group in the province of Alicante, followed by Belgians.
Cultural preferences also play an important role. While Spain traditionally has a high percentage of apartment living, Dutch and Belgian buyers more often prefer spacious detached homes.
“The figures confirm what we notice every day among our Belgian and Dutch clients,” says Carl Vorsselmans, CEO of NB-ESTATES. “They are looking for larger villas with a terrace and preferably a swimming pool, in locations where privacy and quality of life are central.”
The main attraction for foreign buyers
The province of Alicante remains by far the leading destination for foreign property investment in Spain. Last year, the province accounted for more than 20% of all homes purchased by foreigners in Spain.
The combination of climate, accessibility, quality of life and a wide range of properties makes the Costa Blanca particularly attractive for international buyers looking for a second home, an investment or a permanent residence in Spain.
